The Football Ramble Interview

The Football Ramble was nominated for the Most Entertaining Football site and the Best Football Podcast awards. We asked them to talk about the awards, how 2010 had turned out for them, future plans and of course, who they would vote for in the awards. Here’s the interview:

1) You’ve been nominated for Most Entertaining Football Site and Best Football Podcast, chosen by both fans and industry experts, how does it feel?

It feels wonderful, thanks very much to all that nominated us. We’ve worked really hard over the last year to make both the website and podcast an entertaining, interesting destination for football comment and opinion, so it’s nice to be recognised for that.>

2) What kind of year has 2010 been for Football Ramble?

2010 has been a super year for us; we’ve been fortunate enough to visit Johannesburg for the World Cup, we’ve attended a number of great football matches, we’ve released our new (now award nominated) website and we’ve increased our audience massively. In addition to that, we’ve chalked up a number of television appearances and hosted a successful event which was attended by many of our listeners. We’re hoping to build on this in 2011!

3) What do you think has been the key factor in your success?

Good question. I think it depends how you measure it, because we still want to achieve a lot more so wouldn’t necessarily consider ourselves that ‘successful’ just yet. But in terms of the things we’ve achieved this year, it’s down to hard work, inspiration and always keeping the Rambler at the forefront of your mind. But mostly a shit load of hard work 😉

4) If you were casting a vote for your any of your fellow nominees, who would it be?

I’d like to see The Equaliser win Best New Website. It’s an excellent site, Chris is a very talented, young writer, and he’s also a lovely chap. He’s only 21 years of age, and is writing at an extremely high level in my opinion.

5) What’s next for Football Ramble?

Loads of new stuff. We’re going to try and not just be known for a podcast and website. We’re branching out. You heard it here first. Watch this space.

6) Have you seen the Castrol Football Rankings? What do you think about them, and who do you think is the best footballer in the world at the moment?

The best footballer in the world at the moment is either Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez or Liam Lawrence. Take your pick.

You can vote for The Football Ramble in the following award categories:

Most Entertaining Football Website
Best Football Podcast
